Chess in Ludwigshafen 3

About this list

Ludwigshafen, on the Palatinate bank opposite Mannheim, has two clubs and a school group. The Schachklub Ludwigshafen 1912 plays on Fridays in Luitpoldstraße in Friesenheim and opens its monthly blitz on the first Friday to outside players; its juniors train on Tuesday afternoons and play a youth blitz grand prix in several stages. The chess department of the ESV 1927 trains on the first and last Friday of the month from seven and on the Saturday afternoons in between, in the club room of the ESV restaurant.

The Max-Planck-Gymnasium runs a chess working group on Friday afternoons for pupils from year five to year thirteen. The German Chess Youth and the German School Chess Foundation have given the school the seal of a German chess school for 2026 to 2029. The group is for the school’s own pupils.
