About this list

Every place on this page is open to anyone or says on its own pages that guests are welcome, so nobody needs a membership to sit down for a game. Three of them need no club at all: the TeeCafe Tilia in Mannheim with chess evenings on four Thursdays up to December 2026, the multi-generation house in Frankenthal on Monday afternoons and the integration centre in Bensheim on Thursday afternoons, all of them free of any membership.

The clubs that invite guests to their regular evenings are spread over the region: the SK Mannheim-Lindenhof, which says interested players and guests are welcome at any time, the Schachklub 1945 Ilvesheim, the Schach-Club Eppelheim and the Schachclub 1922 Ketsch, and on the Palatinate side the Schachklub Ludwigshafen 1912, the Schachklub Frankenthal 1921 with club tournaments open to guests, the Schachclub Bobenheim-Roxheim 1935 and the SC Bad Dürkheim-Wachenheim with its monthly blitz.
